ืื ื ืืืื / ืืืืืช ___ (ืฉื ืคืืขื).
โ I love ___ (verbal noun/gerund).

โข ืื ื ืืืื ืืืืื ืขืืจืืช โ I love studying Hebrew.
โข ืื ื ืืืืืช ืงืจืืื โ I love reading.
A ืฉื ืคืืขื (shem po'al, literally "verb name") is the verbal noun or gerund โ the "-ing" form of a verb used as a noun. In English we say "I love swimming" โ "swimming" is a gerund (verbal noun). In Hebrew, ืฉื ืคืืขื works the same way.
Why it matters: The oral exam asks you to say what you do at school and what you love. You will use ืฉื ืคืืขื forms.
Structure:
ืื ื ืืืื + ืฉื ืคืืขื โ I love [verb-ing]
Common ืฉื ืคืืขื forms for school activities:
โข ืืฉืืืช โ ืฉืืืื โ to swim โ swimming
โข ืืืืื โ ืืืืื โ to study/learn โ studying/learning
โข ืืืชืคืื โ ืชืคืืื โ to pray โ prayer/praying
โข ืืงืจืื โ ืงืจืืื โ to read โ reading
โข ืืืชืื โ ืืชืืื โ to write โ writing
โข ืืืืจ โ ืืืืืจ โ to speak โ speaking
โข ืืืืื โ ืืืืื โ to eat โ eating
Example sentences:
โข ืื ื ืืืื ืืืืื ืขืืจืืช โ I love studying Hebrew.
โข ืื ื ืืืืืช ืงืจืืื โ I love reading.
โข ืชืคืืื ืืฉืืื โ Prayer is important.
โข ืืืืื ืืื ืืฉืื โ Studying is important.
Key insight: After words like ืืืื (love) or ืฉืื ื (hate), Hebrew often uses the ืฉื ืคืืขื (gerund), just like English uses the "-ing" form.
